Key limits: emergency medical cover of £5m on Basic and £10m on Essential and Deluxe; cancellation up to £1,500, £2,500 or £5,000; a standard excess of £95, £75 or £0.
Strong points: no excess on Deluxe, free policy changes online, no fee to cancel.
Points to check: trip length limits on annual policies (32 days on Basic), the excess applies per person and per incident, and valuables have lower sub-limits than baggage.
Who is Urban Jungle?
Urban Jungle is a UK insurance company founded in 2016 that sells home and travel insurance online, and has offered single trip and annual multi-trip travel policies since early 2025. Its founders set out to remove hidden fees, confusing questions and rigid policies, and the brand still sells on that promise: clear wording, online management and no admin charges.
The company trades as Urban Jungle Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 10414152. It started with contents and buildings insurance for renters and homeowners, then added travel insurance as a second line. It is a Certified B Corp, a label that assesses a company's social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
The travel policies are underwritten by a Lloyd's syndicate, as stated in Urban Jungle's own product documents, and Urban Jungle sells them directly: there is no advice on which package to choose. Its help centre says so plainly, and points customers who want advice to an independent adviser.
We read Urban Jungle's three Insurance Product Information Documents (Basic, Essential and Deluxe, edition December 2024), the travel articles of its help centre and its own travel insurance page, and its Trustpilot profile, all on 29 October 2026. Every limit on this page comes from those documents; where Urban Jungle publishes no figure, we say so rather than estimate one.
Learn more- £10m of emergency medical cover on two packages: Essential and Deluxe both cover medical emergency and repatriation costs up to £10,000,000 per person; Basic covers £5,000,000.
- No standard excess on Deluxe: The Deluxe package has a £0 standard excess, against £75 on Essential and £95 on Basic.
- Free changes and free cancellation: Policy details, cover levels and travellers can be changed online at no charge, and Urban Jungle charges no admin fee to cancel.
- Cancellation cover from the day you book: Cover for cancelling starts on the policy start date or when you book the trip, whichever is later, so a policy bought early protects the booking.
- Named travellers covered on their own: On an annual multi-trip policy, everyone named is covered even when travelling without the lead policyholder.
- Valuables included without declaring them: Phones, cameras, watches, jewellery and tablets are covered under baggage up to a set limit, with no list to declare.
- Short trip limits on annual Basic: Each trip on an annual Basic policy can last 32 days at most; Essential allows 45 days up to age 65 and Deluxe 60 days, both 32 days from age 66.
- An excess per person and per incident: On Basic and Essential, the excess is charged per person named in the claim, capped at two excesses per incident, and a lost bag plus a medical claim count as two incidents.
- Lower limits for valuables: Valuables are capped at £250, £500 or £750 in total depending on the package, well below the main baggage limit.
- Nothing left unattended: Valuables, cash, important documents and personal money left unattended, or packed in checked-in luggage, are not covered.
- UK residents only: Travellers must have lived in the UK for at least 3 of the last 12 months.
What cover do the Urban Jungle travel insurance packages offer?
Urban Jungle offers three travel packages, Basic, Essential and Deluxe, each available as a single trip or an annual multi-trip policy, with two optional add-ons for winter sports and cruises. The package sets every limit and the excess; the add-ons extend the policy to specific types of trip.
- Basic
The entry package: up to £5m of emergency medical cover, up to £1,500 for cancelling or cutting a trip short, up to £1,000 for personal belongings and a £95 standard excess. - Essential
One step up: up to £10m of emergency medical cover, up to £2,500 for cancellation, up to £1,500 for belongings and a £75 excess. - Deluxe
The highest level: up to £10m of emergency medical cover, up to £5,000 for cancellation, up to £2,500 for belongings and no standard excess. - Winter sports add-on
For holidays on snow or ice: Urban Jungle says it can cover medical emergencies and damaged or lost equipment, including owned or hired ski equipment. - Cruise add-on
For a cruise of more than 72 hours on a ship that stops at several ports, with cover for incidents specific to cruises.
A single trip policy covers one trip with an overnight stay that starts and ends at home, of up to 60 days depending on the package and your age. An annual multi-trip policy covers any number of trips over 12 months, each within the trip limit of the package. You cannot downgrade a package or remove an add-on once the policy is bought, so it is worth choosing the level before paying.
Urban Jungle Basic, Essential and Deluxe compared
The three packages differ most on medical cover (£5m on Basic, £10m on the other two), cancellation (£1,500, £2,500 or £5,000) and the excess (£95, £75 or £0). Travel disruption is the same £1,000 on all three. The table sets out each limit per person, from Urban Jungle's own documents.

What does an Urban Jungle travel policy cover?
An Urban Jungle travel policy covers medical emergencies abroad, cancelling or cutting a trip short, disruption to travel plans, and lost, stolen or damaged belongings and money, for every traveller named on the policy. The main sections are the same on all three packages; only the limits change.
- Medical emergencies and repatriation: Hospital and ambulance costs, emergency dental treatment and medical repatriation to the UK.
- Cancelling or cutting short a trip: Unused, non-refundable costs when you cancel or come home early for one of the reasons listed in the policy.
- Disruption or delay: Out-of-pocket costs when travel plans are disrupted, if compensation is not available from the tour operator or transport provider.
- Baggage and valuables: Personal belongings, phones, cameras, watches and jewellery that are lost, stolen or damaged during the trip.
- Personal money and passport: Lost or stolen cash, and the extra travel and accommodation costs of replacing a lost, stolen or damaged passport.
- Personal accident: A lump sum for accidental death, loss of limbs or sight, or permanent total disablement.
What is not covered
Urban Jungle's product documents list the main exclusions. They are common to all three packages, and the full list is in the policy wording.
- Undeclared medical conditions: Claims linked to a pre-existing condition, unless it was declared in the online medical screening and accepted in writing.
- Sports and activities not listed: Claims from an activity that is not on the list of covered activities, unless declared and accepted.
- Passport or visa problems: Being unable to travel because you do not hold or obtain a valid passport or visa in time.
- Private treatment: Medical costs in a private facility when a suitable public facility is available.
- Insolvency of a carrier or hotel: Claims caused by the insolvency of a transport company or accommodation provider.
- Alcohol and drugs: Any claim arising from alcohol, drug or solvent abuse.
- Travelling against advice: Trips against a doctor's advice, or to a country where the FCDO advises against all or all but essential travel.
Where does Urban Jungle travel insurance cover you?
Urban Jungle covers trips in the UK and abroad, with two zones: Europe and Worldwide. Its Europe zone is wide: on top of the EU and Schengen countries it includes Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia, Albania, Georgia and the Channel Islands, among others. Anything outside that list needs Worldwide cover, and a Worldwide policy asks whether you visit the USA, Canada, the Caribbean, China or Hong Kong.
Some places are never covered: any country or region where the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advises against all or all but essential travel. Transiting through one of these countries without leaving the airport does not count. Travellers heading to Europe on a non-UK passport who need a visa should also read our guide to Schengen travel insurance from the UK, which explains the €30,000 rule consulates apply.
How much does Urban Jungle travel insurance cost?
Urban Jungle publishes no fixed price list: each premium is quoted online from your trip and the travellers on it. The price depends on the destination zone, the length of the trip, single trip or annual cover, the package, any add-ons and any pre-existing medical conditions declared during the quote.
Urban Jungle says the price shown at the end of the quote is the total you pay, with no fees added at checkout. A single trip policy is paid once; an annual policy is paid when you buy it and then renews each year, with the renewal premium taken the day before the renewal date unless you turn auto-renewal off. A claim may affect the price of a renewal.
What is my excess?
The excess is the share of each claim you pay yourself: £95 on Basic, £75 on Essential and nothing on Deluxe. It applies per person and per incident, with a maximum of two excesses per incident. If three people claim for the same incident on Essential, £150 is deducted, not £225. A lost bag and a medical emergency on the same trip are two incidents, each with its own excess. Sections marked with an asterisk in the policy carry no excess, and the excess level cannot be changed separately from the package.
Cancelling your policy
Every Urban Jungle travel policy has a 14-day cooling-off period with a full refund, as long as you have not travelled and no claim is made or planned. After 14 days, a single trip policy is not refunded; an annual policy refunds the complete months left. There is no admin fee to cancel, and it is done in the My Account area.
How do you make an Urban Jungle travel insurance claim?
You claim directly with Urban Jungle's partners, not through Urban Jungle: medical emergencies abroad go to its 24/7 medical assistance service, Healix, and every other claim goes to its claims administrator, Claims Consortium Group. Both contacts are in Urban Jungle's help centre and in the policy documents.
- In a medical emergency abroad
Call Healix Medical Assistance on +44 (0)20 8608 4227 (020 8608 4227 from the UK), or email internationalhealthcare@healix.com. Tell them before any treatment if you can: Urban Jungle may not guarantee medical costs it was not told about. - For any other claim
Contact Claims Consortium Group on 0330 124 5156, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm, or by email at urbanjungletravel@claimsconsortiumgroup.co.uk. - Send the evidence
Original receipts, valuations or proof of ownership for lost or damaged items, and bills for medical treatment, transport and accommodation. The claims handler tells you what your claim needs. - Keep copies
Keep a copy of everything you send. Unless agreed otherwise, the cost of providing evidence is yours.
Before claiming, compare the amount with your excess: on Basic, a £150 claim for a lost item returns £55 after the £95 excess. If a claim is refused and you disagree with the final response, the Financial Ombudsman Service handles complaints about UK travel insurance for free.
What do customers say about Urban Jungle?
Urban Jungle is rated 4.7 out of 5 ("Excellent") on Trustpilot, from 14,650 reviews on 29 October 2026. That score covers all its products, mostly home insurance: we found no reviews about travel claims specifically, so it says more about the buying experience than about how travel claims are paid.
Reviewers most often praise the price and a quote process that is quick and easy to follow, along with the option to add or remove covers. The recurring complaints are about policy documents that are hard to open or download from the online account, and, in the most negative reviews, slow communication on home insurance claims.
Is Urban Jungle travel insurance right for your trip?
Urban Jungle travel insurance suits UK residents who want to buy and manage cover online, and who check that the package's trip length and limits match the trip. The points that decide it are the same as for any policy: the medical limit for your destination, the cancellation limit against the cost of your booking, the excess you will pay on each claim and the activities you plan.
- Medical limit and destination
For the USA, Canada or the Caribbean, which a Worldwide policy asks about separately, compare the £5m of Basic with the £10m of Essential and Deluxe. - Cancellation limit and booking cost
Add up the non-refundable costs of the trip per person and compare them with £1,500, £2,500 or £5,000. - Trip length
On an annual policy, check the longest trip against 32, 45 or 60 days, and your age. - Valuables
If you travel with a laptop, a camera or jewellery, check the single article and valuables limits, not only the baggage total. - Medical conditions and activities
Declare every condition and check that each sport is on the covered list, or add winter sports cover.
Our travel insurance guide for UK travellers explains what to check in any travel policy before you buy. Urban Jungle's three packages, its add-ons and the price for your trip are on Urban Jungle's own website.

It can. You declare conditions diagnosed or treated in the last two years during the quote, and Urban Jungle tells you then if it cannot cover them. An undeclared condition can lead to a claim being refused or reduced.
Only with the winter sports add-on, which Urban Jungle says can cover medical emergencies and damaged or lost equipment, including hired skis. Without it, claims from winter sports are not covered.
Yes, as an add-on, for cruises of more than 72 hours on a ship that stops at several ports.
32 days on Basic; 45 days on Essential and 60 days on Deluxe up to age 65, and 32 days on both from age 66. Days beyond the limit are not covered.
Yes. Changes are free online, except downgrading a package or removing an add-on. You can cancel at any time with no fee: full refund within 14 days if you have not travelled or claimed, then unused months back on an annual policy.
