Gap insurance at Admiral

Admiral provides gap insurance, that means the shortfall between the value of the car at the moment of the claim and the value of the car when you bought it.

No-Claim Bonus (NCB) at Admiral

Good to know: if you renew your car insurance policy, you can bring your NCB bonus from your previous contract. You will just need to send to Admiral your last NCB insurer’s report.
You will find below Admiral’s No-Claim bonus rates proposed to their drivers:

  • One year NCB – 2%
  • Two years NCB – 14%
  • Three years NCB – 16%
  • Four years NCB – 26%
  • Five years NCB – 27%
  • Six years NCB – 27%
  • Seven years NCB – 30%
  • Eight years NCB – 33%
  • Nine years NCB or more – 37%

If the incident is not your fault and:
Admiral makes a full recovery from the responsible person, your no claims discount will remain unaffected
Admiral is not able to recover the cost, your no claims discount will be reduced at the renewal of your policy

Additionally, your No Claim Bonus will not be affected if someone on your multi-car policy (but not you) is involved in an accident.

If the incident is your fault your no claims discount will be reduced. For each incident settled against you, you will therefore lose 2 years No Claims Bonus at the start of the next policy term.

However, if you have paid extra to protect your NCB, it might remain the same depending on the option chosen.
You can make certain claims without affecting your No Claim Bonus such as:

  • payments made for windscreen damage
  • payments for emergency treatment fees
  • a claim where the incident is caused by an identified uninsured driver
  • claims which are not your fault where Admiral insurance have recovered all their money.

At Admiral, you can apply for the NCB protection. The NCB protection allows you to make a certain number of claims within a period without losing your No-Claim bonus.

NCB protection claims (number per year): 2 claims in 3 years.

Good to know

A No-Claim bonus is a reward that you get from driving during a long time (at least one year) without making any claim. The more years you drive without claims, the higher your NCB rate gets hence the higher the discount on your insurance premium.

How to cancel your car insurance at Admiral?

You can always cancel your car insurance policy at any time. However, some fees may apply especially if you cancel it after the 14 cooling-off period after your contract's anniversary date.

Since car insurance is a legal requirement, Admiral as well as other insurers will renew your policy automatically at the end of the policy period without any notification from your side. However, Admiral has the obligation to send you a renewal notice within 7 to 21 days before your contract comes to an end. You will therefore have 14 days - the cooling off period - to cancel your policy at reduced cancellation fees.

For the same reason, if you cancel your car insurance policy, you must sign up to a new one immediately. Find out more on car insurance legal requirement.
